Position: Welding Engineer

Job type: 5/40, 12 Month Contract

Location: Houston

Petroplan is currently working with a large E&P business who require an additional Welding Engineer for their Global Subsea business unit.

In this position, you will be based in Houston primarily overseeing projects based in the Gulf of Mexico and working closely with other teams globally. You will be responsible for:

  • Work under the supervision of the Materials and Welding Team Leader and locally under day-to-day supervision of GSS Materials and Welding engineers in Houston.
  • Provide fabrication site welding audits and spot-checks which may include travel to sites within the US
  • Review pWPS, WPS and PQR documentation packages
  • Working with Materials and Welding Engineers, ensure compliance with materials and welding ETPs and specifications.
  • Under the guidance of welding engineers, participate in risk assessments and prepare justification packages to support deviation requests to ETPs and International Welding Standards.
  • Resolution of site queries and deviations associated with fabrication activities

Experienced Required:

  • Have minimum 10 years' experience in welding engineering, including production experience
  • Detailed understanding of commonly applied NDE techniques and the relevant welding NDE codes and standards
  • Chartered engineer or PE with Bachelor's degree or above, in metallurgy or welding engineering
  • Demonstrate ability to influence based on technical understanding and justification
  • A strong personal commitment to HSSE and a proven track record in working with contractors
  • Demonstrated abilities in working with a multi-discipline teams, and major contractors.
  • Strong organizational/planning skills.
  • Good communications skills to work in a geographically dispersed team.

Facilities Engineer

Petroplan is actively recruiting for a Facilities Engineer / Facilities Engineering Lead on behalf of a Houston based international oil and gas company. This is a full time contract position that will require multiple offshore trips in addition to a regular work schedule in the Houston office.

This role will initially be focusing on the risk assessment and integrity management of an aging topside in the Gulf of Mexico before working with management to advise on an upgrade program to significantly extend the life of the platform.

As the Lead Facilities Engineer on this project you will be required to have a well-rounded skill-set within the offshore field, including an understanding of E&I, integrity management, criticality analysis, oil/gas/water trains, offshore flares, etc.

Requirements

- 15 years oil and gas experience

- 10 years well rounded facilities engineering / lead experience focused on offshore platforms and topsides

- Offshore facilities and project engineering experience with an E&P company

- Gulf of Mexico experience and knowledge of BSEE regulations

- Experience running an engineering company operation on behalf of an oil and gas operator

- Offshore certification including HUET

We are looking for an autonomous vehicle system engineer to work for a leading subsea engineering client in Aberdeen.

he ideal candidate will have a strong background in AUV system development and system integration. Technical skills might include systems engineering, electronics engineering, software engineering, DC motor control and power electronics, battery systems, communications networks. Experience product lifecycle management is also desirable.

A digital mindset is important with a demonstrable understanding of the opportunities created by robotics, analytics and the cloud. This team aim to be recognised as leaders in the development of Remote and Autonomous systems.

The candidate must be a collaborative team player, capable of contributing new ideas whilst comfortable being challenged themselves. The applicant must be able to take ownership of their work and be accountable for timely delivery.

Experience in AUV system development is advantageous, but applications are encouraged from adjacent engineering sectors with experience in ROV control systems, robotics, telepresence and automation.

*Role Synopsis A subsea project engineer is needed to manage delivery of equipment - overseeing manufacture, fabrication, and acceptance testing activities

The role will have responsibility for delivery of supplier packages relating to the subsea scope for a gas-lift pipeline system linking two platforms) projects. Both projects are currently at the beginning of the Execute phase with construction activity continuing into 2021.

The Pipeline Project Engineer will be based either the platform design contractor's offices or in at the pipelay contractor's office both of which are in Surrey

The role will require the individual to work as Package Sponsor/CAM as part of the subsea Purchase Order Management Teams for delivery of the subsea Company Provide Items.

Key Accountabilities:

Performance Management of supplier equipment delivery.

Promote strong HSE performance within the team and contracting organisations,

Delivery Management of equipment packages, integrating engineering, procurement, quality, and managing interfaces with key stakeholders within (subsea and platform operations teams, drilling organization). Build productive relationships across project team interfaces.

Report key risks, issues, technical challenges and cost pressures and provide early communication to project and line management.

Attend regular engineering and interface meetings to ensure delivery is in line with agreed work scope. Management of interfaces between the Contractors.

As required manage Contractors' design changes through all phases of the works.

Manage subsea technology qualification activities, as required, including ensuring actions are tracked to closure.

Ensure lessons learned are considered in the design and assist in feeding back project lessons learned.

Essential Education Degree in Engineering discipline.

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

Experience in delivery management of subsea equipment packages. Skill in planning and performance management.

Experience in technical qualification activities such as testing as required.

Experience managing resolution of Variation Order requests and Deviation Requests.

Experience in construction site work and/or subsea installation, including acceptance testing (FAT, SIT, leak testing etc.).

Excellent communication skills, a team player, who actively engages and respects contributions of others.

Desirable Criteria:

Chartered or Professional Engineer status or equivalent.

Experience in FEED or Detailed Design of subsea pipeline systems on an E&P Project.

Previous experience of subsea brownfield work.

Self-motivated with a willingness to learn from others and work with minimum direction.
