Project Engineer - Umbilicals and Flexibles
The Umbilicals Engineer will be responsible for the specification, design, delivery, maintenance and operational support of subsea production systems (SPS) and is the single face to the subsea equipment suppliers.
You will play a key part of the subsea projects team and plays an important role in developing and delivering cost effective subsea projects. The Umbilicals and Flexibles team is growing to deliver hardware and services for the ongoing Projects across all regions.
The role will hold ultimate responsibility for the delivery (specification, design, procurement, verification, manufacturing, validation) of all umbilicals and flexibles hardware and services for specified Projects within the portfolio.
Key Accountabilities:
* Provide discipline engineering support for umbilical and flexible deliveries and interfaces with umbilicals and flexibles suppliers for specified Projects.
* Integration and management of interfaces between the umbilicals and flexibles suppliers and project system engineering (EPMS), connection system supplier (SPS), installation contractor (EPIC), logistics contractor and Services team.
* Demonstrate good safe work practices and be proactive in ensuring safe practices at all times including a strong influence role with suppliers.
* Identify Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) risks and communicate as appropriate
* Manage the supplier selection and award process for umbilicals and flexibles ensuring best value is achieved and contract is placed to meet project schedule requirements.
* Review, comment, and approve design documentation, quality plans and other procedures as appropriate.
* Budget management of contracts. Working with Project Services, responsible for accurate cost and schedule forecasting in support of in year quarterly updates.
* Build strong working relationships with the key suppliers.
* Identify and manage key engineering and delivery risks and provide input to project risk management and mitigation action plans.
* Manage the interfaces between key stakeholders, including engineering contractors, installation contractors and suppliers.
* Read, understand, implement, and reinforce use of Company's Management of Change process and manage any changes to the scope rigorously and in compliance with the project MOC process.
* Assist in the performance of all project assurance activities, including the management of Design Verification Plans.
Essential Experience and Job Requirements
* Technical expertise with umbilicals / flexible pipes
* Track record and experience with SPS/SURF
* Track record of package delivery and/or supplier's management
* Track record of managing people / teams located or remote
* Knowledge of good engineering practice
* Familiarity with codes and standards for umbilicals (API 17E) and Flexibles (API 17J)
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* In-depth knowledge of good engineering practice
* Support the collection and reporting of key performance data for umbilicals and flexibles product designs, manufacture and installation.
* Part of a Global engineering and delivery team, sharing lessons and collaborating across Projects.
* Travel: Role will be based in South East England

Essential Education
* Bachelors' Degree or higher qualification in an Engineering discipline.
* Chartered or Professional Engineer

Desirable Criteria:
* Offshore or manufacturing site experience
* Project Management Professional (PMP) certified.

Project Engineer

Petroplan are assisting a world leader in project services in their search for Project Engineer to ensure execution of technical project objectives to be based in one of their offices in Aberdeen in a staff position.

Key Duties

  • Involvement in both Onshore and Offshore activities
  • Carry out design of installation aids and other equipment required for offshore use
  • Monitor this equipment through to fabrication and delivery, ensuring quality measures are upheld
  • Work closely with Inspectors to ensure suitable activities are implemented
  • Select ideal equipment for performing operational tasks offshore in a safe and efficient manner
  • Assist in mob/demob of vessels
  • Provide technical assistance to offshore personnel

Ideal candidate

  • Working knowledge of onshore fabrication methods, subsea construction techniques, rigging/seafastening design and basic vessel motion response theory
  • No more than 5 years industry experience
  • Has (is eligible for) an Offshore Medical and Survival Cert
  • Degree qualified

Senior Project Engineer - IRM & Subsea Construction

OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The Senior Project Engineer provides engineering skills to projects, tendering activities, engineering studies, vessels & equipment and/or offshore engineering processes. Compliance with and delivery against project plans, relevant engineering standards and contractual obligations is required. The Engineer will usually work as part of a team and may also be required to provide information and engineering guidance to other functions within the business. Work may be carried out onshore, onsite or offshore, therefore there is a requirement to go offshore with this position.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Previous experience of working on similar IRM and Subsea Construction projects is essential.
  • Ability to function within a team across multiple projects.
  • Sound communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, manage time and change control accordingly
  • Ability to manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers.

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Onshore:

  • Assist and guide the development of project-specific procedures for the implementation of work to be carried out by onshore & offshore personnel in accordance with minimum standards.
  • Be involved as required in HAZID studies, SRA (isolation and barriers) & TRA's of tasks detailed in the procedures. This includes liaising directly with clients and subcontractors.
  • Be accountable for designing, checking and/or supervising the design of installation aids and other equipment required for use offshore or for use onshore in preparation for offshore activities.
  • Carry out the supervision of this through to fabrication and delivery, ensuring that the company's quality procedures and relevant codes/standards are applied wherever applicable. Ensure ITP witness and hold points are managed in accordance with the overall project Quality Plan and / or processes.
  • Witness directly or liaise with Inspectors to ensure that suitable contractual activities such as load test, trial fits, are being carried out in accordance with minimum requirements.
  • Be accountable for the preparation/performance or supervision of any engineering analysis of tasks relating to installation, to ensure the structural/operational integrity of the equipment during installation.
  • Select suitable equipment to perform operational tasks offshore, checking all aspects of the equipment to ensure it is operated safely and efficiently with suitable certification provided to meet statutory regulations. Also liaise with vessel departments and third party contractors to ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and fully compatible with offshore worksite.
  • Provide assistance in the co-ordination/compilation of as-built material and commercial aspects of contractual variations from site/fabricators and offshore.
  • Assist commercial department as required, in reviewing documentation or during bid activities.
  • Supervise, assist and guide graduates/junior engineers.


Offshore:

  • Assist in the mobilisation/demobilisation of vessels to ensure that all equipment is handled in the correct manner and everyone involved is aware of all safety and technical aspects of the mob/demob.
  • Provide all necessary technical briefings to offshore personnel ensuring that the overall working and safety philosophy of the project is fully understood by offshore personnel



QUALIFICATIONS

  • It is desirable for candidates to be Degree qualified in an engineering discipline, however demonstrable industry experience is equally valid in conjunction with at least an HND level engineering qualification.
  • Ability to meet the requirements of Offshore Medical and survival certificates are essential

Service Description
Offshore Surveyor Services (night shift, Onboard Vessel) 28/28 Rotation


The service holder is responsible, to assist and follow up the preparation of the Vessel Survey activities for SURF package with all stakeholders (SURF project team & CONTRACTOR) and to follow up, manage and supervise offshore survey activities.

The service holder reports directly to the Day Shift Survey Supervisor on board the vessel.

The service holder is also accountable for demonstrating an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSE and Compliance to rules & requirements and to follow up and ensure implementation within his area of responsibility.
Missions / Service dimensions


Within the framework of international, local regulations and company rules, the service holder is responsible for the preparation, supervision and the coordination of all the operational aspects related to preparatory and survey activities associated to the SURF package:
  • Ensures COMPANY HSE standards are applied throughout the operations;
  • Assists supporting and enforcing the HSE Project objectives and directives;
  • Assists supporting and implementing the Project HSE management system (plans, procedure and specifications).

  • Supervise the vessel survey operations executed by CONTRACTOR on board Vessel;
  • Collects and endorses all survey data on board the Pipelay Barge and as required;
  • Supervises CONTRACTOR surveyor team for all survey, positioning and installation operation conducted on/from the Vessel ensuring they are performed in a safe manner according to relevant project approved procedures;
  • Assists Vessel RSES and Main Offshore Survey Company Representative as required.
Activities
  • To be informed of the appropriate Company / Project Rules and Specifications
    (CR's/GS's/PPS's), international norms and standards, taking knowledge from them to application to the Project;
  • Review and assess the quality of all field reports submitted by the survey contractor offshore;
  • To collect the associated raw data, assess them offshore if possible, and transmit them to the Main Offshore Survey Company Representative and onshore survey support team for further analysis, as required;
  • To ensure that all necessary data are duly collected in a timely manner by the survey contractor offshore following the Field coordinate handbook and data management approved procedure;
  • To collect the as-built reports and the field reports carried out each day, to file them properly on
    board and make them available for Vessel RSES and Main Offshore Survey Company;
  • To inform Main Offshore Survey Company Representative about all shortcomings, problems and/or major defects detected in survey works;
  • To ensure the technical exchange with the survey contractor offshore in order to make sure
    that the survey services are carried-out as per specifications and approved procedures and liaise with CONTRACTOR on survey issues;
  • During the mobilisation phase, assess the capability and skilfulness of the contractor surveyors;
  • Verify and ensure that the navigation sensors are duly calibrated according to Company specifications;
  • Verify and ensure the offsets of the sensors have been professionally assessed by the survey sub-contractor;
  • Verify and ensure the DGPS and the DP vessel (if applicable) have been duly tested before starting operations;
  • Verify and ensure that the survey contractor implements the quality control as per specification requirements;
  • Assess the survey procedure and manuals;
  • To ensure confidentiality of all the documentation produced (whatever its support)
  • Prepare comprehensive and complete Hand-over for his back to back;
