LNG Mechanical Superintendent - Owner / Operator - Western Africa - Rotation

Our client, a market leading Owner / Operator, are presently looking for an LNG Construction Director to join their leadership team. This position, will be on a rotation basis in Western Africa and will be overseeing the Construction of a multi-billion LNG export plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and report BIC/BIT/Preservation activities to ensure compliance with B²P procedures, commissioning programs, specifications, environmental guidelines, quality assurance programs and the construction safety program
  • Perform duties with utmost importance to Safety, Quality and Schedule
  • Monitors and ensures proper preservation of equipment & piping systems in line with "Built-It-Clean", "Built-It-Tight" , "Preservation" philosophy
  • Monitor, track and submit daily/weekly/monthly B²P progress/status report
  • Monitor and report Preservation of materials on site
  • Conduct daily B²P walk-downs throughout the day
  • Conduct periodic Port, Lay Down Yard visits and submit reports
  • Provide BIC/BIT/Preservation Lead with Field Construction support
  • Provide BIC/BIT/Preservation Lead with inputs for B²P planning and management
  • Provide mark-ups and comments of BIC ,BIT, Preservation/QAQC/HSE documents by the EPC Contractor, as required
  • Provide proper documentations and reports of observations and findings of non-conformance issues and concerns
  • Work closely with other project discipline members
  • Collaborate and maintain positive relationship with the EPC Contractor
  • Attend internal and coordination meeting(s) including safety briefing
  • Attend safety and construction site walkthrough



Experience & Qualifications

  • 10 years of related experience gained on large scale Oil & Gas construction projects.
  • 5 years of LNG Project experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Owner / Operator background is preferred.

LNG Construction Director - Owner / Operator - Rotation - Western Africa

Our client, a market leading Owner / Operator, are presently looking for an LNG Construction Director to join their leadership team. This position, will be on a rotation basis in Western Africa and will be overseeing the Construction of a multi-billion LNG export plant.
Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the selection of contractors
  • Ensuring the HSE execution strategy, to be included within bid documentation, is formulated and clearly defined and communicated to the execution contractors, and implemented.
  • Ensuring contractor safety information is reviewed, commented on, and approved prior to award of contract and mobilization to site.
  • Ensuring contractor construction safety programs and safe work practices are reviewed, approved, and monitored.
  • Management of contractor safety performance.
  • Ensuring contractors and subcontractors' site safety supervisors are managed and coordinated
  • Management of safety on construction sites and associated areas, through the setting up of strong safety systems and the management of these throughout the construction period.
  • Develop or oversee the development of the site safety induction program and ensure safety training to the site team is given and recorded as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Site Safety systems (eg. RAMS, lifting approvals, Construction Work Permits etc.) are managed and approved by a trained and competent individual.
  • Ensuring all contractors go through mandatory training before accessing the site and ensure additional training is given as required for the various activities on site. This includes recording of such training.
  • Providing oversight and guidance for the safety, health, environmental, and regulatory compliance and performance during the construction and commissioning phase of the project
  • Providing leadership to ensure prompt prioritization and coordination of all risks, issues and unforeseen issues at the site, escalating as required
  • Ensuring the safety incentive program is implemented and administered on the site.
  • Ensuring continued guidance for contractors on EH&S at site during the transition of site from construction through commissioning to handover
  • Maintaining a strong and effective professional working relationship with the Project Management team, Client, interfacing EPC's, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring safety meetings are conducted and recorded as required (internal/external).


Experience Required

  • A minimum of 15 years Construction Management experience gained on large scale Oil & Gas projects.
  • A minimum of 10 years LNG Construction Project experience.
  • Bachelors of Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree and an MBA is preferred.

Fabrication Specialist

Petroplan are supporting a client on a Project to build a new Integrated Production, Drilling, Utilities and Quarters Offshore platform to be installed in the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan. This role is specifically focused on leading fabrication of the Jacket structure which will be installed on the sea-bed to supports the Topsides facilities above sea-level.

The project is currently in Define phase and is planned to enter Execute during 1Q19.

The Fabrication Specialist will be responsible for the overall construction delivery for the Jacket, with specific emphasis as follows;

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Demonstrate excellent personal HSSE leadership and HSE behaviours. Lead, by example, with regards to HSE policies.
  • During Execute phase, participate in the implementation of HSE standards through self-verification and oversight activities across the fabrication facility, ensuring investigation and follow-up where required.

People Management

  • Lead a collaborative approach to ensure seamless delivery and a unified vision for success.
  • Coaching/mentoring of in-country personnel for technical and leadership development purposes.

Fabrication Execution Management

  • Ensures safe, compliant, reliable and efficient fabrication productivity of the ACE Topsides.
  • Ensures Contractor's fabrication work processes and procedures are fully implemented to underpin effective and efficient productivity; evaluate Contractor's core work processes and implement improvements to optimise efficiency.
  • Performance-manage fabrication productivity through-out yard workshops and erection areas, minimising double-handling of materials. Evaluate and implement improvements to fabrication productivity.
  • Performance-manage contractor's production work package system to optimise fabrication productivity.
  • Performance-manage welding productivity ensuring that the best welding techniques and equipment are implemented and being used.
  • Performance-manage weld productivity ratio to achieve maximum output with available welders, oversee weld repair ratio to minimise and identify repairs with QA department.
  • Performance-manage Contractor's Weld Procedure and Qualification processes to ensure these are generated on-time to support the fabrication timeline.
  • Performance-manage the generation of Contractor's manufacturing record books, ensuring accuracy and completeness prior to Mechanical Completion Handover.
  • Anticipate and identify adverse trends/events throughout the fabrication productivity cycle and work with the relevant parties to agree performance / improvement steps to achieve safe and on-time execution.


Modernisation and Transformation

  • Supports the development and implementation of project modernisation and transformation solutions across the project fabrication phase.
