PTW Coordinator

Role/Position Overview
The PTW Coordinator reports into the Operations organization with overall responsibility for the safe control of work activities in accordance with the PTW process. The PTW Coordinator is expected to provide guidance to field Operators of what field work activities need to be performed during high intensity periods such as a TAR.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other governing organizations as applicable
  • Ensure adherence to control safe work practices
  • Execute day to day management of the PTW process
  • Capable of performing Risk Assessment (e.g. L2 HITRA) responsibilities when applicable
  • Facilitate daily PTW planning, including SIMOPS management
  • Execute PTW strategies for shutdowns/turnarounds
  • Conduct HSE and PTW compliance audits



Knowledge
Understands plant or other relevant industry (Petrochemical/Refinery/Cryogenic) type operating procedures, safe handling practices, equipment, maintenance protocols, governmental regulations and related technical and safety codes, standards and reporting requirements is necessary. In-depth knowledge of the physical properties of the plant, plant layout and is able to identify relevant equipment as relates to specific job activities. Has previous working knowledge around the concept of PTW and permitting processes for different types of job activities including, but not limited to Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Energy Isolation, working at heights, etc.

Education/Training

  • Utility power and operation systems, including air, water, nitrogen, etc.
  • Fire and gas detection systems
  • Basic machinery and heavy equipment knowledge
  • Basic office application knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of process operations
  • CoW/PTW practices
  • Identification and management of SIMOPs



Experience
Maintenance and Operations experience and knowledge of managing CoW via a PTW process. SIMOPS planning and experience is also needed. Proven ability to communicate and work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment
  • Able to diagnose and resolve significant or unusual PTW problems
  • Able to follow directions and quickly formulate and effectively communicate questions if clarification of an assignment is required
  • Able to guide and advise others in operational / technical aspects of the expertise area.
  • Able to apply existing skills in new roles and or environments
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Possesses a strong understanding of his/her role within the PTW system and can identify unsafe acts and hazards and able to provide safe corrective measures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Process Safety that includes safety and operational procedures utilized for critical activities
  • General knowledge of process controls including flow, pressure level and temperature systems and process diagrams (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's))



Work Conditions

  • Stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, type and write
  • Can climb vessels and lift objects
  • Work indoors and outdoors and be exposed to year-around weather conditions
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing

Petroplan are looking to recruit an excellent OPS HSE Advisor to join a great team on site in Algeria.

This will be based on a 4/4 on a years contract to start ASAP.

Required skills and experience

  1. A Chartered HSE engineer with a minimum 10 years' experience
  2. With at least 8 years' experience in the operation of gas plant as an HSE specialist at a supervisory level.
  3. Degree or above from a recognized university.
  4. Membership of a relevant HSE institute.
  5. Good interpersonal and Self-motivated.
  6. Good communication/organizational/administration skills.
  7. Computer literate.
  8. Strong skills in Office (Especially Excel)
  9. Fluent written/spoken English, French and spoken Arabic is desirable.
  10. Works well in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment.

Mechanical Technician

Mechanical Technician

  • Perform daily maintenance activities including repairs, PMs, troubleshooting and callouts;
  • Maintain pumps, valves, and related oilfield equipment by conducting field inspections to ensure reliability and dependability for day to day operations;
  • Complete preventative maintenance schedules of stations and sites to ensure all maintenance is completed to predetermined schedules;
  • Participate in installation, maintenance and operation of all new product quality initiatives as needed;
  • Assist as needed with installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of new equipment and modifications to existing facilities;
  • Complete assignments safely, efficiently and in an environmentally conscious manner by observing the accepted company and industry safety practices;
  • Familiar with SAP - PMM program to implement updated maintenance requirements;
  • Maintain good working relationships with all departments and areas of operation;
  • Supervise contractors as required; and
  • Maintain assigned vehicle in good clean operable order and maintain required inspections and government documentation.


Qualifications

  • Possess an Interprovincial Automotive Mechanic, Heavy Duty Mechanic or Millwright Certificate;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pipeline operations;
  • Oilfield Construction experience would be considered an asset;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, SAP and other business related computer programs and applications;
  • Familiar with SAP - PMM maintenance program would be a preference;
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills;
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License; and

Process Operator

Petroplan is seeking experienced Process Operators with a background in petrochemical projects for our client, a major petrochemical operator based in the Lake Charles, Louisiana area.
Job Overview
The Process Operator will ensure the safe and effective operation of the assigned process systems and work areas of a gas-to-liquids (GTL) facility. It is expected that during the pre-operational phase the field operation personnel will be involved in the development of start-up and normal operating procedures as well as in the execution of commissioning through to ready for start-up of the facility.
Responsibilities
Pre-operational phase:

  • Develop operational procedures
  • Contribute to pre-commissioning/commissioning activities
  • Punchlisting


Operational Phase:

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with agreed health, safety, and environment procedures
  • Isolation and preparation of equipment for maintenance
  • Continuously monitor conditions of running and static equipment identifying problems as they arise and seeking appropriate assistance
  • Sampling and laboratory testing in plant lab
  • Log and act on lab results, liaising with the Control Room Operator
  • Maintain optimal operations by analyzing process conditions and trouble shooting issues
  • Communicate events with Shift Team Leader on oncoming shift personnel
  • Communicate relevant changing conditions and situations to Control Room Operator and Shift Team Leader
  • Liaise with other operators and work in other plant areas as required


Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years' operational experience in gas plants, refineries or petrochemical plants
  • Experience working with contractors during pre-commissioning and start-up is preferable
  • Proven track record in the position of Process Operator/Field Operator, backed up by working experience in some of the main processes and/or utilities of a GTL plant or integrated oil & gas petrochemical production facility
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team of operators in a multicultural environment and must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Fluency in both written and verbal English is mandatory
  • Understands and can identify when a unit or piece of equipment is deemed unsafe to continue running
  • Can think and act under pressure
  • Can identify when equipment is requiring urgent maintenance
  • Can identify unsafe acts and take action to stop them
  • Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule including nights, weekends and holiday
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
