Petroplan is seeking skilled Project Cost Engineers/Analysts (downstream/petrochemical) for our client, a major petrochemical operator based in the Lake Charles area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor cost reports and associated documents related to the construction of a multi-billion-dollar petrochemical complex
  • Adherence to the baseline cost control system
  • Prepare cost forecasts and cost trend reports utilizing cost analysis expertise
  • Contribute to cost management procedures aligned with project scope
  • Input on overall project budget; reporting on both cost underruns and overruns



Key proficiencies:

  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented approach
  • Thorough understanding of major downstream/petrochemical capital project process
  • High-level Microsoft Excel power user
  • Creative and proactive problem solver
  • Technical knowledge in project cost planning, scheduling, and reporting


Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 5-10 years' of Project Cost Engineer/Project Cost Analyst experience
  • Engineering Degree with focus on project management/costs

Wellsite Services Manager

Position: Wellsite Services Manager

Petroplan is currently working with an expansion focused E&P business who are in the process of adding to their operational activities. Due to this continued growth, a need has arisen within the business to add a highly Wellsite Services Manager to their Houston office location to assist with the operations teams across Production, Completion, Well services and Drilling.

In this position, you will report directly to the SVP of Services and be responsible for expanding current sourcing methods and avenues for all well site materials and services as well as being involved in all aspects of sourcing, supply chain and procurement with a key emphasis on reducing over heads. Key challenges will include:

  • Managing and initiating the internal and external bid process for Wellsite services
  • Establish a necessity planning process and KPIs to project forecasts which are aligned with operations and allow the company to measure cost control efforts and compliance
  • Deal with third party vendors with a strong focus on cost and performance

You must have at least 10 years of oil & Gas experience with a Bachelor's of Science, ideally with a leaning towards Business or Finance. You will have a very strong understanding of Project management principles and experience working on upstream operations.

Suitable candidates will be a driven, autonomous, self-motivated safety professional who is passionate and hungry to succeed.

Process Control Engineer

Petroplan is seeking Process Control Engineers for our client, a major chemical manufacturing client with operations in Texas.
With operations situated globally, our client is a global technology leader in the production of specialty materials and chemical products which are used in most major industries and consumer applications. The company employs approximately 7,500 employees worldwide and had 2014 net sales of $6.8 billion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure continuous, safe operation of Distributed Control System (DCS)
  • Responsible for the maintenance and configuration of DCS to provide high availability of all control system components.
  • Coordinate DCS troubleshooting activities.
  • Monitor system and control system components.
  • Perform routine system maintenance and modifications (e.g. back-ups, file maintenance, system performance tuning, system software upgrades) to minimize downtime and loss of information.
  • Configure basic control scheme and logic.
  • Participate in MOC changes and alarm management activities.
  • Contribute by identifying ways to leverage control system to maximize unit safety and productivity.
  • Develop, design and implement system improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a system recovery plan.
  • Support other systems as needed (e.g. data historian, yield accounting, BLAN, PCN)
  • Support SIS systems, including SIS functional checkouts, PLC programming and maintenance, SIS bypasses, etc.



Key Proficiencies:

  • Strong ability to multi-task and work in a self-directed manner.
  • Hands on experience working with DCS hardware and software, PLC's and data historians.
  • Good troubleshooting ability.
  • Prior hands-on experience working with multiple disciplines (e.g. Operations, Technical, Maintenance)
  • Basic understanding of chemical and utility processes.
  • DeltaV DCS, Triconex SIS, DCS Upgrades.
  • Process Control or relevant Diploma with experience in: DeltaV DCS and Triconex SIS
  • OSI PI Data Historian and Plant State Suite
  • Graphics development
  • Working knowledge of networks and computers/servers.
  • Working knowledge of instruments and analyzers.



Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 3-5 years related experience
  • B.S. in Chemical/Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited University
