2. Purpose of role


This role reports to the Vice President of Communications and External Affairs for the African Region to develop and implement campaigns to influence stakeholders, support the company's business interests and enhance its reputation. The position is critical to ensuring the communications and external affairs team deliver key activities in a fast-growing business.

3. Key Results/ Accountabilities expected from role

Develop and implement innovative and integrated communications and external affairs campaigns aligned with the region's priorities to promote the company reputation and advance its business interests
Drive cohesive campaigns and measurement through full campaign lifecycle
Provide communications and public affairs expertise, including support for community engagement
Support crisis communications activities in the region, including preparedness activities
Support internal communications to strengthen employee understanding of the company vision, strategy, goals and values by helping to deliver an effective engagement programme and energizing employees
Advise senior management on communications issues, opportunities while fostering an environment of transparency and teamwork
Demonstrate flexibility, trust and skill in delivering communications and engagement around sensitive issues
Ensure activities are aligned with regional communications and external affairs strategy and Company policy
Support the regional digital media channels, including idea and content development, and responding to inquires
Deliver each activity within the agreed budget and schedule
Work collaboratively and flexibly with team members and upstream business colleagues
Manage the regional events calendar and oversee the development and running of events from conception to delivery, working closely as required with in-country teams, administrative support and vendors
Use insights, measurement and best practice to drive continuous improvement and inform strategy


4. Experience & Expertise (educational qualification & experience)


Essential qualifications

Hands-on, highly innovative communications and external affairs professional with an understanding of stakeholder management and advocacy in complex, political environments
Deep knowledge of employee engagement - reinforcing an environment where people are more motivated, and empowered; having a greater sense of purpose and satisfaction with their work
Able to lead and work well as part of a team of skilled professionals in multiple countries to seamlessly execute day-to-day tactical delivery
Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple disciplines, cultures and geographies, across organisational boundaries and levels within a global organisation and with external stakeholders
Ability to work under pressure, successfully planning and managing multiple projects concurrently in a dynamic environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present information in a clear and compelling manner to a variety of audiences and cultures with complete fluency in English
Minimum of a degree plus post-graduate studies or deep experience in communications, political science or a related business discipline

Desirable qualifications

French and/or Arabic language skills (written and verbal)
Strong Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office 365 and graphic design skills
Track record in crisis management / issues management
Understanding of the upstream oil and gas business

Job Function

  • Support tendering processes, single source justifications and contract negotiations.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Contractual evaluation of the offers, recommendations.
  • Raise Purchase Requisitions / purchase orders / work orders / service orders in SAP.

Knowledge, qualifications and experience

  • Degree in electrical engineering or related subject, ideally with professional qualifications (CEng)

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Pipeline Engineer (Subsea), working for a client of ours in their London office. The Senior Pipeline Engineer will specialise in both the design and analysis of offshore pipelines.
Key Requirements

  • Provide specialist skills in areas of subsea pipelines, including design codes, and must show strong engineering practice
  • Candidate will also need to be competent within design calculations, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations and study reports
  • Provide mechanical and integrity calculations for offshore pipelines using DNV Tools, AutoPIPE, Abaqus or similar software
  • Coordinate pipeline engineering support to the execution of multi-discipline projects in line with defined budget and schedule
