QA/QC Mechanical Inspector

Petroplan's client, Downstream Operator is looking to add a QA/QC Mechanical Inspector to join their team. This is for a Greenfield Gas to Liquid Project.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Take product measurements and samples; accurately and promptly; perform related calculations; complete required reports and forms; perform inventories; do non-petroleum or chemical inspection assignments.
  • Verify the accuracy of measurement equipment and keep all issued equipment clean and in good condition at all times.
  • Perform visual cleanliness inspections of tanks including entering confined spaces.
  • Work safely in the presence of hazardous materials as defined in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Perform other inspection department duties assigned by Operations.
  • Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified by Coastal Gulf & International.
  • Attend training and pass appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical and gas inspection procedures, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials transportation, and other safety training required by applicable regulations.
  • Inspectors must be ready to accept job assignments at any time and must be willing to work on an on-call basis.
  • Read and understand all job and safety requirements in English.

  • All other duties assigned by management.


Qualifications

  • Experience with NDT
  • API 570 Certification
  • Must have internal and external customer service skills.
  • Candidate must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • TWIC card required.

Prospective candidates will be responsible for:

  • performing inspections of various operations activities.
  • Generating reports of conditions found during inspection activities, notifies operations and Quality Assurance/Quality Control management of significant problems.
  • Complete documentation necessary to attest to satisfactory completion of inspection or test activities.
  • May also be responsible for conducting the magnetic particle and penetrate testing of parts and initiating and processing non-conformance reports.



Requirements:
Expected to work - Monday through Friday, Saturdays as needed.
Night shift hours.

  • 3 years experience using inspection tools in regards to dimensional inspections.
  • Experience using optical comparator (optional but preferred), MTR review, Comprehension of company specifications/policies.
  • P.I.T. experience.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T.
  • 100% Dimensional inspection of newly manufactured parts, both lathe and mill work. Verification of technology driven specifications.

Position Summary
The Cost Engineer will provide the Project leadership team with complete analytical support for cost reporting, forecasting, budget reconciliation and performance measures of the project.
Responsibilities

  • Provide project control support to the Project Leadership team which may include cost reporting, cost reconciliation, change management, project status reports and various other project related activities
  • Review cost estimates for all aspects of the project providing direction to external service providers as required to ensure complete and robust estimates in accordance with project cost coding and management requirements
  • Analyze financial information and recognize variances, trends, and irregularities and understand the causes/driver
  • Establish and execute controls to proactively support, monitor and communicate budgets, actuals and forecast
  • Recast Budgets as required during the execution phase of capital project for proper reporting
  • Report and analyze project progress using an earned value basis
  • Collect data, inputs, update and produce standard management reports, Actual vs. Budget and /or forecast
  • Create and customize project control tools/systems to meet specific project reporting requirements
  • Research unexpected items and resolve inaccuracies
  • Demonstrate attention to details with a focus on accuracy, completeness and meeting deadlines and commitments
  • Work with the Project Team to ensure that the timelines and/or objectives of the project are met
  • Ensure ongoing improvement through evaluation of current processes
  • Supports the consistency for reporting based on the established WBS Code of Accounts


Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
Related degree qualification an asset (Construction/Accounting/Finance/ Engineering)

  • 5 years of experience in a similar role of EPC TIC Cost Analyst on major capital projects ( $50 MM)
  • Proficient in extracting data into Excel and using graphs, formulas, pivot tables, etc. for reporting and trend analysis
  • Knowledge of commercial contracts, how to apply terms to selective material and subcontractor invoice auditing
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data for commitments, direct actuals and forecast cost to go
  • Ability to deal with technical and non-technical persons and explain technical concepts and analysis in simple terms
  • Ability to communicate with a range of people - both internally across all levels, and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build positive partnerships
  • Ability to multi-task, and manage multiple priorities in a high paced and change-constant environment
