Our client, a leading Oil & Gas organization is looking to add a Project Manager to their team for a 6 month contract in North York, ON.

Job Overview

This individual is responsible for managing medium - large scale projects throughout the life cycle, and act as the liaison between business and IS for IS-related projects. The PM will actively participate as part of the Project Support team to support project delivery for key client groups, accountable for Project Management, Employee Engagement, Change Management etc.

Key Responsibilities

* Participate in all phases of a project including scope definition, cost/benefit analysis, design, testing, training, implementation and support. Manage the project within prescribed deadlines and budget as required.
* Provides and co-ordinates change management/ employee engagement activities to ensure that systems are implemented in a positive manner with the corresponding business process redesign and training.
* Participates in external software and hardware vendor relationships for product evaluation and co-ordinates testing and training of the product.
* Keeps company management informed of project status through ongoing contact, communication and presentations.
* Acts as an internal project resource on other Company or Corporate projects or initiatives as required providing business process knowledge and expertise, facilitation and leadership skills and system development experience.

Key Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field of study
  • Minimum five years project management experience
  • Construction / Energy project exposure is highly desirable
  • PMP Designation would be an asset
  • Demonstrated project management experience with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodology.
  • Experience with change management initiatives and the ability to influence others.
  • Demonstrated facilitation experience (session design and delivery)
  • Excellent oral, written & presentation communication skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills

Pipeline Integrity Engineer

This position provides technical expertise and support to address reliability and integrity related issues on pipelines.

This individual will interface and work closely with various key stakeholders such as Operations personnel, Service Providers (In-Line Inspection/ Pigging contractors, Chemical suppliers, CP Vendors, Condition Monitoring Vendors, NDE Vendors etc.), Maintenance contactors, Projects group etc. to ensure effective assurance programs and continuous improvements for pipeline integrity and reliability.


The individual must be well versed in pipe integrity threats and hazards, Canada/ US pipeline regulations, and pipeline codes and standards.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical support on the selection, development, implementation and sustainment of effective assurance/mitigation plans, monitoring and inspection programs for pipelines.
  • Lead and/or participate in pipeline risk assessments, engineering assessments, pipeline failure investigations, internal/external audits, failure analysis and repairs
  • Coordinate, interface with and provide technical direction to service providers in regard to pipeline integrity management programs e.g. chemical mitigation, cathodic protection, protective coatings, in-line inspection, monitoring and other mitigation
  • Providing in house training on Pipeline Integrity Management
  • Providing technical input to and or development of engineering specifications, standards and procedures
  • Participation in industry associations, workgroups (i.e. NACE, UPIMA, CAPP etc.) workshops and conferences.


Must have qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree in a related engineering discipline
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 15 years engineering, with 8 years' experience working in a pipeline integrity engineering role
  • NACE Certification(s)/Training (Cathodic Protection, Coatings, Pipelines, Material Selection, Corrosion, Chemical Treatment, ICDA, ECDA, NACE MR 0175
  • Formal training in integrity specializations (Risk Assessment, ILI, Defect Assessment, Repairs, CP, Internal Corrosion Control, Coatings) and Management Systems
  • Knowledge and experience in risk assessment, fitness for service assessments, root cause analysis, pipeline inspection techniques, crack managements, defect analysis, corrosion control and mitigation (e.g. coating, chemical treatments, maintenance pigging) and cathodic protection systems.
  • Working knowledge of nonmetallic pipelines integrity management
  • Experience with the Provincial and Federal Regulatory (AER, BCOGC, NEB, MER) requirements and Codes (API) and standards (CSA) and fully qualified to apply engineering standards relevant to the pipeline industry, including CSA Z662, API Standards, and NEB, Alberta, and Saskatchewan Pipeline Regulations.


Nice to have Qualifications:

  • API Certifications (1169, 570, 579, 510, 653, 571, 580 etc.)
  • Previous experience with SAP

Regional Environmental Coordinator - Reclamation

Our client, a leading Oil & Gas Midstream organization is looking to a Regional Environmental Coordinator to their team. This is a 1 year contract based in Edmonton.

Job Overview

The Regional Environmental Coordinator will take responsibility for environmental planning, permitting, and environmental inspection coordination as it applies to the project's reclamation digging. They require a broad understanding of the environmental field as well as specialized knowledge of regulatory processes and environmental mitigation as it applies to construction work.

Key Responsibilities

* Accountable for the environmental planning process including the preparation of environmental assessments reports, public information sessions, the acquisition of permits, and cost estimating.
* Coordinate the government and public review of completed environmental assessments.
* Work with federal, provincial and local agencies to secured approvals and ensure environmental compliance of projects.
* Monitor compliance with environmental permits and conditions during construction and insure post construction environmental permit compliance.
* Provide necessary assistance to project managers and company construction staff to ensure project is environmentally sound and promote environmental stewardship.
* Establish viable working relationships with various government agencies and agency personnel.
* Manage environmental aspect of multiple projects simultaneously, including management of consultants and adherence to schedule and budget.
* Ensure valued membership of project teams by providing timely and accurate information to internal clients.
Scope/Dimensions
* Focus is on achieving general objectives by working independently to manage their time, approach to technical problems, and work priorities.
* Problem solve by applying standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures, or using methods developed in previous assignments.
* Solve atypical or specialized problems in consultation with their people leader.
* Daily contact with internal stakeholders, including: project teams and project leadership; regulatory and compliance groups; and Environmental systems group;
* External stakeholder contacts typically occur on a weekly to monthly frequency, including consultants, provincial and federal regulators, and nongovernment organizations.


Key Requirements

* A post-secondary degree or higher in an environmental or related field.
* Minimum 7 - 10 years of environmental experience within the Oil & Gas Industry with exposure to the midstream / upstream sectors being an asset.
* Previous Reclamation Digging Exposure is highly desirable
* Familiarity with environmental assessment methodologies and permitting.
* Familiarity with best management practices for environmental protection.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and to work with minimal supervision.
* Strong interpersonal skills, focused internally and externally, at all levels
* Demonstrated capability in ensuring strong linkages both inside and outside of the organization
* Demonstrates a willingness to implement new ideas within acceptable boundaries
* Ability to apply strategic solutions to issues
* MS Office Proficiency
* Excellent organizational skills.

Our client, a leading Oil & Gas Midstream organization is looking to add an Integrity Engineer / EIT to their team for a 1 year independent contract. This position is based in Edmonton with a high possibility of long term extension as well.

Job Overview

This individual will focus on achieving general objectives while working independently and managing time, approach to technical problems, and work priorities. Supporting integrity projects that improve the safety, integrity and reliability of the liquids pipeline system and representing the pipeline integrity department in cross-functional teams focused on strategic asset management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaison is required between Pipeline Integrity (PI), Liquids Pipelines and Major Projects engineering, and Asset Performance groups in the identification, justification, and active sponsorship of PI-driven projects which is led by Asset Integrity engineers.
  • Understand PI Program analysis results/issues and how they relate to and impact other areas of the company in order to provide timely, clear technical, and sound economic justification in PI-driven project development.
  • Identification, justification, and sponsorship of PI projects include, but are not limited to, the following focuses: pipeline replacement, recoating, hydro-testing, remediation of geological and hydrological hazards, remediating cased crossings and cathodic protection issues and idling or deactivation.
  • Will involve the compilation of integrity analyses and may include some feature growth forecasting analyses along existing pipelines, in order to identify and prioritize locations for pipe replacement consideration. Frame and justify project and perform preliminary risk evaluation
  • Engage a supporting team of integrity engineers, technologists, and experienced individuals to complete challenging but achievable project initiatives.
  • Actively sponsor projects from scope initiation, execution, through to final in-service. This includes the compilation and analyses of project documentation, managing completion of related Engineering Assessments as required, as well as participation in gating process, commissioning, acceptance, and long term operational review activities.
  • Participate in the development and future enhancement of PI Projects tools including repair vs. replace decision model(s); group process and procedural documents; and preliminary project scope definition, business case, and presentation templates.
  • Apply risk-informed decision making tools and techniques to projects. Generate opportunities to better the business that align with LRP Capital priorities and Asset Plans

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Registered as a professional engineer or eligible for registration with APEGA
  • 3 - 5 years of industry-related experience, a combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Project management capabilities in order to successfully prioritize multiple projects to meet task, deliverable, and deadline requirements while managing stakeholder expectations.
  • MS Office Proficiency
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. This includes the ability to effectively interact with peers, management, internal/external stakeholders, vendors and service providers.
  • Previous Pipeline Integrity knowledge / exposure
  • Project Management Training / Credentials is an asset (PMI)

Job Overview

Reporting to the HSE Manager, the H&S Advisor role will develop, implement and assess safety programs and H&S analytics. Working within a small team, this individual will provide technical expertise and support on the application of regulatory requirements, approvals and management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct gap analysis and audit of health and safety programming; prepare reports and work plans prioritized based on risk to find solutions and efficiencies. Identify risks, trends in root cause and recommend controls
  • Develop metrics and prepare performance reports
  • Assist in development of procedures and positions on health and safety related regulatory issues, and standard operating procedures
  • Participate in or lead investigations to determine root cause and develop corrective actions as well as assist in the preparation of incident reports
  • Provide support in case of emergencies; assist in development of site contingency planning and emergency response

Project Controls Analyst

Our client, a leading Oil & Gas owner/operator organization is looking to add a Project Controls Analyst to their Fort McMurray turnaround team, this is a 7 month contract till the end of 2019.

Candidates have to be local to Fort McMurray area or be willing to relocate for the duration of the contract.

This individual will report directly to the Planning Turnaround Lead and support operations on a 5 days on, 2 days off rotation, with extra days on during the execution phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the work streams to maintain the Integrated Project Plan & Milestones.
  • Baselining includes identifying changes to scope, schedule & cost and ensuring related approvals & documentation are in place before adjusting baselines.
  • Report potential variances to resourcing, scope, budget, and schedules to the PMO in a timely manner.
  • Perform schedule, resource, and cost and/or risk analysis as required.
  • Provide services to the work stream leads in the planning, resourcing and control framework


Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 - 5 years of work experience in project controls within the Oil & Gas Industry
  • Previous turnaround exposure is highly desirable
  • Advanced skill with MS products, especially expertise in Excel and Project, as well as Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
