Senior Operations & Maintenance Specialist

  • Petroplan are currently recruiting for a Senior Operations & Maintenance Specialist, requirement and duties include;
    • Leads & coordinates discipline as a project management team member.
    • Manages the interface between Client's project team and O&M engineering design team.
    • Manages all discipline related engineering activities, review and approval (internal and where applicable Client approval) of deliverables, inter- disciplinary checks and assures compliance with contractual requirements,


e.g. complete delivery of LOD, maximum duration of review cycles, engineering quality, project schedule, etc.

  • Supports overall project management, task management, change/contract management, progress reporting and development of project presentations


- Ensure the changes within the discipline are managed and communicated to the other discipline in cases they are affected.

  • Responses to Technical Queries (TQ's) and written clarification requests by 3rd parties and attend clarification meetings

  • Technical Document Review
    • Ensures that correct input data, codes & standards are used and adhered to.
    • Reviews of project basis of design, technical queries, and active participation in the stage of data gathering.
    • Reviews selection and implementation of correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for the project and/or proposes improvements for the design.
    • Reviews all relevant design calculations and performs cross-check calculations if required.


- Reviews various discipline related engineering deliverables (Basis of Designs, Philosophies, O&M Manual Requirements, O&M Specifications for Contractors & Suppliers, RAM, Maintenance & Inspection Plans, O&M Manpower Estimations, other discipline related Documents, etc.).
- Actively participates in HSE document reviews & workshops, such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, FERA, ENVID, SIMOPS, Plant Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), QRA, Safety & Environment Critical Elements (SECE) and related Performance Standards, Constructability, ALARP Workshops, etc..

    • Actively participates in 3D model reviews.
    • Strict adherence to established procedures.

    • Review, provision of comments, elaborations and recommendations and approval of provision of instrumentation and automation discipline analyses and calculation notes required for the design of the instrumentation engineering works.
    • Review, provision of comments on technical recommendations on the selection of instrument materials to meet project requirements.
    • Review of various instrumentation and automation engineering deliverables (instrument datasheet, instrument list and I/O list, instrument sizing for flow element and valves,
    • Review, provision of comments for scope of work for SIL workshop.
    • Review of control system design deliverables for DCS, ESD, and fire and gas systems, mechanical package control system PLC.
    • Review of other discipline documents e.g. P&IDs, Piping GAs, hook-up drawings, Electrical Control Narratives, HVAC heat dissipation calculations for the alignment with I&A discipline.
    • Actively participates in HSE document reviews & workshops, such as HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, SIMOPS, etc.
    • Actively participates in 3D model reviews.
    • Strict adherence to established procedures.

Education & Accreditation
  • University degree, BEng, BSc, MEng or MSc in Electrical-, I&C-, or other relevant Engineering discipline

Project Information

Basic Design and FEED document review, supervision and support during the

EPC/EPIC tendering stage for on- and off-shore facilities of a gas field development.

Level of Discretion

· Day-to-day decisions in the execution of the project; regarding installation engineering activities

· Decisions to be coordinated with the engineering manager

Job Objectives

· Supervision of Basic Design and FEED engineering activities

· Support of EPC / EPIC tendering

Duties and Responsibilities

· Senior/Lead

- Leads & coordinates discipline as a project management team member.

- Manages the interface between Client's project team and installation engineering design team.

- Manages all discipline related engineering activities, review and approval (internal and where applicable Client approval) of deliverables, inter- disciplinary checks and assures compliance with contractual requirements,

e.g. complete delivery of LOD, maximum duration of review cycles, engineering quality, project schedule, etc.

- Supports overall project management, task management, change/contract management, progress reporting and development of project presentations

· Technical Document Review

- Review, provision of comments, elaborations and recommendations and approval of Basic Design and FEED documents in a timely manner to ensure the design meets the needs of the field development and complies with contractual requirements.

- Provide support during the LLI and EPIC tendering phase

- Reviews of installation analysis reports for offshore pipelines, umbilicals and subsea facilities (SSIV, manifold and PLEM/PLET)

- Review of installation specifications and procedures relevant to pipelines, unbilicals and subsea facilities (SSIV, manifold and PLEM/PLET)

- Ensures that correct input data, codes and standards are used and adhered to.

- Assist with preparation, supervise, review and comment tender documents

- Provide assistance with answering written clarification requests and attend clarification meetings

- Strict adherence to established procedures

- Assist with bidder pre-qualification

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administers day-to-day contractual adherence of FEED contractor
  • Provides support during the LLI and EPIC tendering phase
  • Administers all contract related activities, assures compliance with contractual requirements, e.g. complete delivery of LOD, maximum duration of review cycles, engineering quality, project schedule, etc.
  • Analyze and report on specific risks (e.g. commercial, contractual, operational, financial, reputational, ethical, supply chain, etc.) associated with contracts
  • Provides expert advice on contract conditions and administration to procurement professionals and stakeholders to support informed decision making and improve future contract outcomes
  • Ensure the contractual changes are managed and communicated to the other discipline in cases they are affected.
