Senior Data & Analytics Analyst
Location: Calgary
Contract: Initially 12 months, with a view to extend

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Stewardship Reporting, the Data & Analytics Specialist will be responsible for streamlining and automating our financial and operational performance reporting deliverables and processes.

The successful candidate will be a proficient handler of large data sets, capable of summarizing findings and leveraging tools like Databricks, PowerBI or Spotfire with SQL, R or Phyton programming experience.

The desired candidate possesses effective communication, analytical and critical thinking skills, and is a self-starter who owns their work and brings solutions forward. They pay attention to detail and have good organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities:
The Stewardship Reporting team is looking for an innovative Data & Analytics specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in streamlining and automating our financial and operational performance reporting deliverables and processes.

The successful candidate refine our data gathering and reporting processes. Your expertise will be crucial in automating our standard reporting deliverables, introducing self-serve reporting options, and enabling comparative analyses tailored to our unique analytical requirements. This role demands a proficient handler of large data sets, capable of summarizing findings, and leveraging tools like Databricks, PowerBI or Spotfire.

Deliverables:
*Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand data requirements and automate reporting processes and deliverables.
*Collaborate with corporate data teams to develop and maintain reporting logic using code in our corporate data platform (Databricks).
*Visualize curated datasets in tools such as PowerBI or Spotfire, moving away from Excel-based reporting.
*Create both standardized reports and flexible ad-hoc reporting options to meet diverse analytical needs.
*Ensure the deliverables comply with reporting standards and can easily be presented in various formats (PDF, PPT, etc.).
*Train others to independently manage and maintain reporting solutions, fostering skill development for sustainable future use.
*Engage in continual improvement of financial and operational data analysis, exploring innovative tools and methods for advanced reporting

Competencies:
*Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle large data sets, calculate KPIs, and produce actionable insights.
*Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Spotfire.
*Programming experience in SQL and R or Python.
*Experience working with Git and related tools (Gitlab, Github).
*Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Databricks .
*Excellent communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to empower non-expert use
