Field Deployment Specialist

Position Description:

We are looking for a Field Deployment Specialist who will be based out of our Calgary office in Alberta. The role is to deploy DarkVision’s technology in a wide variety of different jobs across different well types and downhole applications in Alberta and more broadly in the North American market. You’ll be working with a wide variety of oil and gas operators, service companies, deployments systems and personnel and will be personally responsible for the successful execution of each job.

The most important characteristic of the successful candidate is that they are very hard-working and a self-starter. Also, the ability to travel and spend lots of time in the field is an absolute must in this particular role. You’ll be supported by our Operations and Engineering teams, but you’ll be the person on-site who’s responsible for the job itself along with communications to the customer.

Specific Skills Required: This particular role has a few key requirements that a successful candidate would have in order the hit the ground running and be able to get up to speed in a short period of time.

  • Wireline/Logging Experience: Experience deploying other logging technologies using wireline, tractor, coil and various other deployment methods. This would ideally be experience from North American deployments in the US or Canada.
  • Oil Field Service Experience: General experience with downhole equipment, well construction, completions etc. would be another important asset.
  • Technical Background: A technical or engineering background would be helpful in better understanding the technology and how it works, but not a hard requirement.

 

Responsibilities (depending on the candidate’s skills, experience and aptitude, there are a wide variety of potential responsibilities and key areas for contribution):

  • Everything & Anything: There will be a wide assortment of standard and not-so-standard tasks that you’ll be expected to complete, both inside and outside the typical business development umbrella. There’s an entrepreneurial side to the role, so no task will be either above or beneath you.
  • Deployments: Successfully deploy the technology in wells, including mobilization, rig-up, rig-down, communications with site personnel, service companies and ultimately oversee the deployment of the products in each customer’s well.
  • Travel: The successful candidate will travel primarily in Western Canada, but will also travel internationally, largely within North America to deploy the technology with various oil and gas operators. Travel is a key component of the job, and a flexible personal-life that can support a career where time away from home is the norm is an absolute must. If you don’t want to be out of town, you shouldn’t apply for this job.
  • Preparation for Jobs: Ensuring that tools, parts, trucks and critical equipment are checked, cleaned, calibrated and verified for each job is a natural part of deploying the technology. Taking care of the tools, fixing, cleaning, testing and refurbishing.
  • Communications: Quick, clear and effective communication with customers, site personnel and DarkVision staff are your responsibility to ensure deployments are successful and everyone has the information they need.  
  • Trouble-Shooting: Deploying new technology naturally comes with the necessity to troubleshoot new problems that arise on-site in real-time. You’ll be supported by the engineering and operations teams, but the ability to figure things out quickly, improvise and succeed under pressure will be critical to overall job success. The capacity to both anticipate and solve field problems is paramount.
  • Product Input & Feedback: Provide feedback and ideas on how to improve the product, technology and operational processes to increase efficiency, quality and scalability of the overall business. Feedback from the field is critical and will be incorporated directly into the engineering team to improve existing and future products.

We are looking for a Business Development professional who will be based out of our Calgary office in Alberta. The role itself could encompass a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities, depending on the successful applicant’s skill-set, aptitude, ability and experience. The primary objectives and responsibilities for the role are depicted in the sections below. In general, you’ll be working directly with DarkVision’s CEO on a wide variety of sales, marketing, product and business development tasks and projects.

Job Overview
The Process Operator will ensure the safe and effective operation of the assigned process systems and work areas of a gas-to-liquids (GTL) facility. It is expected that during the pre-operational phase the field operation personnel will be involved in the development of start-up and normal operating procedures as well as in the execution of commissioning through to ready for start-up of the facility.
Responsibilities
Pre-operational phase:

  • Develop operational procedures
  • Contribute to pre-commissioning/commissioning activities
  • Punchlisting


Operational Phase:

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with agreed health, safety, and environment procedures
  • Isolation and preparation of equipment for maintenance
  • Continuously monitor conditions of running and static equipment identifying problems as they arise and seeking appropriate assistance
  • Sampling and laboratory testing in plant lab
  • Log and act on lab results, liaising with the Control Room Operator
  • Maintain optimal operations by analyzing process conditions and trouble shooting issues
  • Communicate events with Shift Team Leader on oncoming shift personnel
  • Communicate relevant changing conditions and situations to Control Room Operator and Shift Team Leader
  • Liaise with other operators and work in other plant areas as required


Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years' operational experience in gas plants, refineries or petrochemical plants
  • Experience working with contractors during pre-commissioning and start-up is preferable
  • Proven track record in the position of Process Operator/Field Operator, backed up by working experience in some of the main processes and/or utilities of a GTL plant or integrated oil & gas petrochemical production facility
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team of operators in a multicultural environment and must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Fluency in both written and verbal English is mandatory
  • Understands and can identify when a unit or piece of equipment is deemed unsafe to continue running
  • Can think and act under pressure
  • Can identify when equipment is requiring urgent maintenance
  • Can identify unsafe acts and take action to stop them
  • Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule including nights, weekends and holiday

Our client who is a leading Oil and Gas Operators are currently looking for a Facilities / GIS Planner on a long term contract basis in Calgary, with occasional travel to site.

The Facilities Planner will be responsible for the collection, evaluation and electronic input of all data pertaining to the facilities planning and land management programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all elements of management of change procedure are adhered to with regards to building documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Work with Planning & Compliance team and tenants to draft scopes of work specific to tenant's requests
  • Ensure that standards and procedures conform to relevant legislation, codes and guidelines for risk management and environmental protection.
  • Support and expand GIS development within land use program
  • Uploading of data to Archibus software program

Skills Required:

Our client, a leading oil & gas organization is looking to add a Construction Planner for their topsides division in St. John's, NL. This is a 1 year independent contract.

On a day to to day basis, this individual will be supporting the Lead Planner with the development and updating of Integrated Master Schedules as well as supporting the Topsides Commissioning Manager in the development of the Topsides In-Yard Commissioning Schedule.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide schedule analysis, information on trends, and recommendations
* Audit contractors' schedules/progress systems to ensure quality and accuracy of information during engineering and construction phases
* Compile and analyze project schedule/progress data for reporting
* Interact and provide planning direction to Construction Contractors' Project Controls Team

* Strong proficiency (master) with Primavera P6
* Strong proficiency with MS Office suite, especially MS Excel; must be able to extract data from Primavera and manipulate the data for analysis purposes

Petroplan is currently working with a large E&P business who require an additional Drilling Supervisor for their operations in North Dakota.

In this position, you will provide technical assistance and management for all the simultaneous operations on the pad. You will be involved with ensuring that all activities are planned, scheduled and executed to achieve the agreed requirements in a safe and efficient manner. Key challenges will include:

  • Working with the operations staff to collect and maintain required EHS data
  • Ensure drill-string inspection schedules are followed and maintain log of footage between inspections or repairs. Ensure have the ability to segregate and track rental string to insure alternate open hole vs cased hole exposure.
  • Providing support to the investigation of Company violations of a regulatory nature, including field investigations

You must have at least 15 years of experience, including 8 years' of recent experience working as a Drilling Supervisor/Company on an unconventional project.

Suitable candidates will be a driven, autonomous, self-motivated safety professional who is passionate and hungry to succeed.
