Senior Subsea Engineer (10 Years of Experience)  
The Senior Subsea Engineer (WH/XT/FB/MF) is a member of wells team and supports drilling, completion, Intervention, and work over scopes associated with the well work.  The subsea engineer will contribute to engineering, procurement, maintenance, equipment readiness and installation work for Wellheads and Xmas Trees along with work associated with Xmas Tree to Flowbase and Xmas Tree to manifold interfaces.  The Subsea Engineer will also oversee and co-ordinate the inspection maintenance and readiness of Suncor owned equipment and service tooling. The Subsea Engineer will conduct the work in accordance with company’s Code of Business Conduct, established procedures and wells standards and policies.  This is a temporary requirement for approximately one year with potential for extension.  
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform concept evaluations and provide input to basis of design for current and potential drill center expansion
  • Provide evaluations and reporting to support project decision gates
  • Review design reports and drawings
  • Provide progress reports and project timeline reporting
  • Co-ordinate infield subsea scopes in advance of MODU campaigns
  • Co-ordinate technical condition reports on all tooling
  • Provide recommendations for repair or replacement of ROV tooling or ROV tooling components
  • Witness all tear downs, inspections, and rebuilding of equipment at vendor locations
  • Conduct system integration testing on all equipment tooling
  • Provide recommendations on equipment spares
  • Liaise with certifying authority as required
  • Assist with new contracting initiatives as required
  • Includes life cycle considerations in the well and completion design such as operation, intervention, and abandonment
  • Identification and communication of risk within planned and unplanned operations
  • Assists in the selection of suitable service contractors, equipment and developing procedures together with the equipment manufacturers for assembly and operation
  • On-site supervision of daily activities (as necessary)
  • Communicates with DCI or subsea personnel as required
  • Responsible for monitoring the safe and efficient management of change
  • Responsible for capturing and implementing lessons learned from one program to another
 
                                Junior Subsea Engineer
 
The Junior Subsea Engineer will be a member of the Subsea Project Team managing an offshore construction project in 2027.  This is a temporary requirement for approximately nine months with potential for renewal until Q3/Q4 2027.  Estimated commencement date in June 2025.  The expectation is the role will be full time onshore up to completion of the offshore program in Q2/Q3 2027 and then closeout in Q3/Q4 2027.
 
Description:
The Project is a multi-year project consisting of subsea inspection of flexible riser connections via divers and/or new subsea equipment fabrication and installation with a dive support vessel.  
 
Summary of Responsibilities:
• Member of the subsea project team, ensuring compliance with processes and stewardship
• Further develop and manage existing and potential / emerging scopes pertaining to the installation scopes
• Manage and track the technical documentation review process
• Assist project team members with the Interface and Technical Query process
• Interface with installation contractor and review of installation contractor technical documentation
• Actively involved in the capture, management, incorporation and closure of opportunities, lessons learned and risks from planning through to execution and project closeout.
• Manage distribution and storage of project meeting minutes & stewardship reporting
• Assist with developing documentation for Project Gate Review and facilitation of Gate Review
• Develop work tasks for ROV activities in advance of Dive Support Vessel arrival
• Review project and operations documentation in a timely manner as part of various engineering reviews, risk assessments/analysis, action closures and readiness reviews.
• Manage and coordinate an asset tracking and handover process with installation contractors, other business unit functions, external third parties, equipment suppliers, and storage facilities to support the safe delivery, traceability and handover of project assets between the company and installation contractor.
• Travel to third party sites in support of project delivery, as required.
• Ability and willingness to participate in pre-work including equipment readiness checks, mock testing activities, vessel mobilization(s), and demobilization(s).
 
Skills/Knowledge/Attributes
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with minimum 1-year related oil & gas experience with preferred experience in subsea equipment/engineering
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to manage third parties
• Excellent communication, presentation, and reporting skills
