Piping Engineer

A leading Oil and Gas client who operates in Africa is looking for a Piping Engineer to support project formulation and execution activities.

The Piping Engineer role is based in London, functionally reporting to the Engineering Manager. There will also be an operational reporting line to the specific Project Managers according to project.

The role will involve a high degree of direct engineering coordination and assurance as well as timely support to field engineering requests in order to provide high quality, timely and robust instrument engineering deliverables to the field. As such there will be some periodic travel requirements to the African asset and potentially to other assets in the portfolio, which are currently Africa focused.

The role will require providing direct support to the assets as Piping TA as well as general engineering support including resolution of construction queries.

Input to projects at all stages from Concept through FEED, Detailed Design and Implementation will be required including direct liaison with sub-contractors, document review and approval as well as Design Reviews, HAZID etc.

The role requires a technically able engineer with a strong track record. This is a highly diverse role in which the incumbent will be expected to take individual responsibility to deliver strong technical support along with key engineering deliverables. In the current low oil price environment, there will be a strong focus on cost effective execution and maximum utilisation of existing facilities through fit for purpose brownfield work scopes.

The role would suit an experienced well-rounded engineer with strong piping engineering experience particularly relating to onshore projects implementation.

Roles/ Responsibilities

  • Review and approve specific technical documents, drawing packages, equipment and material bid packages - according to core discipline skill set
  • Provide piping engineering support to conceptual and scoping studies both internal and external
  • Ensure compliance of engineering deliverables with engineering specifications, industry codes and standards and good international practice
  • Support field engineering investigations and MOC requests, either directly or via London based engineering companies
  • Ensure consistent and integrated engineering basis and approach between parallel projects, field activities, contractor activities and other discipline groups (Reservoir Engineering, Production, Operations, Drilling)
  • Ensure all technical documents, drawing packages, equipment and material bid packages receive the appropriate level of discipline engineering review
  • Coordination of drawing and documentation updates and as-building activities
  • Support site based Operations team activities for existing facilities
  • Support FDP project scope with timely review of piping / layout documents
  • Support FDP project scope with site-surveys of piping systems
  • Support well pad in-house design/engineering deliverables
  • Support ever-increasing MOC piping design
  • Support non-FDP work scopes with timely initiation/review of piping

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Engineering bachelor degree or equivalent - Mechanical
  • 15 years industry experience - the majority in E&P/EPC project environment delivering oil and gas developments across the whole project lifecycle
  • Experienced in execution of onshore oil and gas projects, both greenfield and brownfield
  • Significant piping design and engineering experience in engineering contractor, consultant or supplier organisations
  • Prior roles in facilities construction, fabrication, commissioning and field operations would be highly regarded
  • Experience of working and executing projects in Africa

  • Ability to operate on multiple levels and take a hands-on approach
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills, good report writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to work collaboratively across discipline boundaries

Our client, an Automotive Production Company, are currently looking to hire an Engineer to join an expanding team. The company deals with fuels and lubricants technology centres around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, Develop, and conduct engine testing
  • Own and manage test bed installations to appropriate safety and quality standards
  • Engine test control systems, data acquisition and analysis of data, gasoline and diesel combustion processes.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or equivalent experience (Will consider other Engineering or Science related disciplines).
