Shift Superintendent

Our client, a large Oil & Gas organization are currently looking to add a Shift Superintendent for a permanent full time expat position in Saudi Arabia. They will provide full relocation assistance, visa etc.


Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor Degree in relevant field of study.
  • At least 12 years of refinery operational experience including 5 years in supervisory role and minimum of 3 years as Area Operations Foreman.
  • Fluency in English language (both verbal and written).


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise the operations of the Refinery during the shift and ensure that all activities are in accordance with the Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Conservation and Security regulations.
  • Contribute to the timely delivery of the Refinery products and operations as per the quality and quantity standards specified by Scheduling Division.
  • Manage and ensure Emergency Response preparedness during the shift and lead immediate actions response to deal with upset or unstable operational conditions in coordination with all involved personnel, including the respective Shift Supervisor, the Fire Shift Supervisor, the Security Shift Supervisor and the medical support, if needed.
  • Launch the Emergency Response in case of large event and request external support if needed. Submit regular reports to the Refinery Management along with factual description of the Refinery accidents/ incidents.
  • Coordinate and ensure the effective stabilization of the Refinery operational conditions during upsets or transitory phases when more than one area is affected.
  • Coordinate and follow-up the overall start-up or shutdown activities during the shift when more than one area is involved according to the predefined plans, schedules and instructions developed by the Area Superintendent/ Foreman and the Scheduling Team. Provide the necessary support the Shift Supervisor of the affected area if required.
  • Control and coordinate the activities across the Operations and Offsite areas to ensure the fulfilment of the Environmental regulations, such as flare, water quality, flue gas, waste, during outside the normal working hours.
  • Carry on field inspections within all operations and offsite areas to promote proper housekeeping activities, identify and eliminate unsafe conditions, validate and check work permits and ensure correct disposal of waste.
  • Work during weekends to lead the Daily Operations Meeting and ensure close coordination and communication channels with all Area Shift Supervisors and Offsite Supervisors to ensure the achievement of the Scheduling instructions.
  • Launch and follow-up the Refinery upset scenarios giving the main actions and priorities to the Operations and Offsite Shift Supervisors with a special focus on the common networks (such as Fuel Gas, Flare, Steam, Hydrogen, syngas Gas, waste water, slops, and nitrogen) and the product quality management.
  • Authorize and launch emergency maintenance activities outside the normal working hours and upon the request of the Area Supervisor. Authorize the withdrawal of materials from the main warehouse, if needed.
  • Outside the working hours, ensure and support the realization of risk analysis for any unusual operational or maintenance activities and authorize the hot work, if needed. Attend periodically group safety meetings.
  • Authorize specific activities out of normal hours, such as the emergency supply of chemicals, and fill and transmit the Shift Superintendent report.
  • Work on the request of the operations Manager, during normal working hours, and perform special studies, such as reliability studies.
  • Assist the Manager Operations and Optimization on specific activities, such as incident analysis, specific working group, training activities and operations procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the operations manager.

Shipping Operator

Our client is a wholly owned subsidiary of one of the largest integrated energy companies globally; we have been engaged by this business to find a Shipping Operator based in their London office.

The main purpose of this role is to assist Chartering and Cargo operators at the pre-fixture stage and manage all post fixture operations; reporting into the Team Leader in a team of five some of the main duties include:

  • Prepares documentation, maintains records and coordinates logistics of shipment of crude cargoes
  • Coordinates and leads communications with cargo operator/trader/chartering on loading and discharge requirements
  • Sends voyage orders and LOI to owners, work out the stowage plan, liaise with shipping agents on loading and discharge
  • Check and arrange freight and any other shipping related costs; send the appropriate payable and receivable notices to our offices in Asia
  • Prepare and maintain shipping paperwork and promptly input appropriate data into the trading/shipping systems
  • Proactively manage the P&L in the Shipping/Trading systems
  • Send the Charterer's liability insurance report and all other appropriate reports to shipping department
  • Maintains shipping records and providing tracking information
  • Review and audit freight bills for billing accuracy. Respond to billing questions from external freight payment
  • Maintain knowledge of current international import/export regulatory requirements. Update standard applicable standard operating procedures as necessary
  • May be required to work as part of a cross functional team to resolve shipping related issues and provide corrective action

We are looking for candidates with the following background:

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or degree level qualification
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Skills:

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written, spoken and interpersonal communication

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Excellent understanding of oil tanker capabilities is essential
  • Previous experience operating tankers in a tanker management / owner environment is preferred
  • Experience operating spot cargoes is essential
  • Experience working with controlled tonnage desirable
  • Experience working in an international oil and gas company preferred
  • Successful incumbent is likely to have 3-5 years' operations experience at a minimum

Complex Training Specialist

Role synopsis
  • The design, development and executing of the Operating Area or Craft Team Annual Training Plan (ATP) with input from the Unit Operating Superintendent or Craft Maintenance Mangers.
  • Long-term Unit specific or Craft Strategy development and OSHA 1910 compliance.
  • Working with the entire Learning and Development Organization to audit and assess the capability needs of Whiting Business Unit; focusing on the training needs of our Operations and/or Craft Personnel to meet those capability requirements.

Key accountabilities
  • Lead the effort to develop a 3 to 5 year training strategy plan for the area complex or Craft line.
  • Work with employees to establish annual personal development plans; then use those plans to populate the Unit/Craft Annual Training Plan (ATP).
  • Leader of a Team of subject matter experts that help support development of training reference materials and procedures.
  • Project Manager for all consultants or external parties who support development of training reference materials and procedures.
  • Assess staffing needs for your assigned area based on attrition as well as training demands; assure that on-shift staffing is adequate to support scheduled training.
  • Track operations or craft overtime and absences to establish job qualification needs.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with OSHA required Safety Refresher Training
  • Assure 100% compliance with Operator 3 year re-certification with NO overdue OPQ Qualifications
  • Establishes and executes the annual training plan with goals and timeline to update operator training reference materials and operating procedures.
  • Single point of contact for Operations scheduling to ensure annual training plan goals and requirements are met.
  • Coordinates Supervisory personnel development skills training for the Asset team.
  • Coordinates process and technical training for the asset team (Recommended Good Practices).
  • Attends process specific training seminars or sessions to update unit personnel.
  • Review and implement self-directed training modules for all regulatory training and look for possibilities to expand self-directed training modules to unit specific training.
  • Provide the necessary skill training for the OS Field Operator to become a knowledgeable trainer; being able to train their respective Team members.
  • Coordinate with the all L&D Advisors to ensure consistency and sharing of best practices across the Whiting Business Unit.
  • Primary accountability for the upskilling of all Operations and Craft personnel including Supervisors.
  • Responsible for proctoring the qualification and re-qualification assessment process - written knowledge and field demonstration tests.
  • Manages performance feedback and the development of remediation plans for trainees; accountable for the completion of "probationary reports" for new hires until probationary period has expired.
  • Responsible for on-boarding ELT Personnel assigned to their Operating Area; including ELT delivery.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the Hourly Trainers assigned to their Operating Area.

Summary:

The mechanic is responsible for the mechanical workings of all vehicles and ensures operational readiness of equipment and vehicles by performing preventive maintenance.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Read diagrams/schematics for work procedures
  • Operate a hoist and lift device to position machinery in a safe manner
  • Inspect and examine vehicles and equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance work - Oil changes, Light vehicle maintenance
  • Mechanics need to meet all company, DOT, and government standards with equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Responsible for communication with shop supervisor on equipment readiness
  • Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable health, safety and environmental procedures and regulations
  • Actively support monitor and adhere to all objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Field Mechanics are required to keep proper inventory of parts
  • Other duties as assigned
