Risk Strategist

Job Description

Position Summary
We are seeking a technically strong and business-savvy developer to join a new initiative focused on building and rolling out a custom-built Risk & PnL engine. This role is based in Houston, where you'll represent the development team locally and work in close alignment with trading desks and risk managers. You'll collaborate extensively with colleagues in a core development hub overseas and play a critical part in ensuring regional needs are met.
Key Responsibilities

• Deployment: Lead the rollout and support of a newly developed Risk & PnL engine for the Americas trading business. Serve as the local point of contact for user engagement, training, and issue resolution.
• Collaboration: Work closely with remote development teams to align deliverables with business requirements and assist with region-specific enhancements.
• Development: Build and maintain analytical tools, reports, and extensions to the risk platform using C and Python. Interface with the CTRM system to source and manage required data.
• Innovation: Tackle open-ended, high-impact challenges across risk modeling, performance optimization, and user experience. Help shape how risk is viewed and acted upon within a dynamic trading environment.
• Travel: Periodic international travel is expected to maintain strong coordination with global technical and business teams.

Required Qualifications

• 3 years of professional experience in C development, with supporting experience in Python for enterprise-level applications
• Demonstrated ability to write clean, efficient, and extensible code
• Prior exposure to trading environments or financial systems
• Strong communication skills, particularly in explaining technical concepts to non-technical users
• Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of derivatives pricing, including option Greeks and other risk metrics
• Experience working in energy, commodities, or related financial markets
• Familiarity with React or other front-end frameworks for building UI tools
