KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversight of the accounting for Holding companies, intercompany transactions
  • Performing/coordination of statutory and tax filings for Holding companies
  • Monthly consolidation of accounts and providing supporting information for management reports
  • Preparation of Group quarterly financial statements and related disclosures (Q1 and Q3) and preparation of Group interim report (Q2);
  • Preparation of Group financial statements and related disclosures for the Group Annual report and active participation in the process of the Annual report compilation;
  • Coordination of audit process (including gathering of information from various locations);
  • Overall analytical reviews of the financial statements;
  • Preparation of accounting memos on complex accounting matters;
  • Identification and implementation of enhancements to the accounting for Holding companies and external reporting

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years of work experience (Big4 experience is an advantage);
  • Up to date knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP;
  • ACCA Certification;
  • Knowledge of requirements of UK Companies Act, DTR - is a plus
  • Experience with SAP, preferably with BPC and DM;
  • Power User of MS Word and MS Excel;
  • Fluent/native English and Russian;
  • Being able to travel for work to Kazakhstan;
  • Strong communicator;
  • Professional attitude;
  • Punctual and concise;
  • Drive and enthusiasm;
  • Pro-active.

General Overview:

  • At an expert level, leads or assists on accounting related projects and provides expertise in the areas of financial and acquisition accounting, cost management, activity management, process improvement, internal controls, management and financial reporting, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides financial and managerial accounting assistance to business units (BU's) in support of activities, performance measurement and reporting. Performs detailed technical financial analysis and budget-to-actual analysis on an as needed basis.
  • Analyzes existing processes and identifies opportunities for process improvement based on trends in process performance and a sound understanding of the business process.
  • Develops and reviews financial policies and procedures, including technology and/or business process changes.
  • Designs, produces and reviews financial, managerial and regulatory reports.
  • Researches industry and accounting literature in order to stay abreast of emerging issues. This may include interpreting PUC rules, state and federal legislative bills, and new accounting standards. Communicates impact to executive management. General Overview:

At an intermediate level, performs complex financial accounting and reporting activities for al US entities. Researches, interprets and ensures compliance with various regulatory requirements and ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Develops, prepares and reviews accounting reports and financial statements. This position utilizes knowledge and experience in own discipline but is still building higher-level knowledge and skills. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment to determine an appropriate approach within general parameters and some guidance from supervisor, manager and/or more experienced colleagues.

Primary purpose of job
Responsible for planning, preparation, management, cost control and reporting for the 5 Years Operating and Capital Budget of the HSE & Business Services department (VB). Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Budget & Cost Control at VB. * Supports VBS/2 to implement Business Excellence initiatives, with emphasis on cost savings, value for money and customer focus. Business Excellence refers to programs that address improving business processes, productivity levels, reduction of structural costs and cost containment of VB operations. Example: via services prioritization, workforce reorganization, outsourcing, etc.
Experience & Skills
* Minimum 8 years' experience in an accounting/finance environment within the Oil & Gas Industry
* Computer literacy (MS Office suite of programs), Lotus Notes and thorough knowledge in SAP FICO, ES, PM, SD, PS and MM modules is essential.
* Excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal, problem solving and negotiation skills.
* A good command of spoken and written English is essential.
Education

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, supervising the company's project and fixed asset accounting functions to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of asset and project reporting and be an information resource to both Operations and Finance.


QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor of Science degree in accounting or finance, required; CPA or MBA, preferred
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in project accounting/fixed assets roles with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, required

* Ability to prepare MS Excel spreadsheets (using pivot tables) and reports in MS Word
