A leading oil and gas client working on a billion dollar project in Algeria is looking for a compressor expert.

The compressor expert should have the following;

  • Should be graduate in Mechanical engineering or Control systems (instrumentation) engineering
  • Significant experience in design, operation, maintenance and trouble shooting of turbine and motor driven centrifugal and reciprocating compressors
  • Strong background of handling large gas compressors for LP, MP and HP pressure domain
  • Special preference will be given to the candidates who has worked with Siemens compressor model STC-SV (12-3-A), gas turbine model SGT400/600 and John Crane seal model AURA - 220/Eagle Burgman seals
  • Trouble shooting experience during compressor start up and shut down
  • Extensive experience on functioning of seal and preventive controls against seal damage. Should possess knowledge on potential reasons for seal damages and mitigation actions
  • Extensive knowledge on control systems to ensure trouble free design life of the compressor, turbine and seals
  • To work closely with the vendor, check and control the vendor during pre-commissioning, commissioning and warranty period to extract right services and efforts to ensure trouble free run of the equipment
  • To possess strong documentation skill for troubleshooting, root cause analysis for failures, repair and maintenance activities
  • Should possess knowledge about international level of safety standards
  • Should have good knowledge on process safety requirements
  • Should be proficient to read, write and communicate in English

Petroplan is hiring a Field Engineer in Portland, Oregon for a major Oil and Gas Operations Company
The Role:
Engineers, designs, programs, tests and commissions field instrumentation, pipeline control systems, and telemetry in support of gas control operations. Works closely with pipeline engineering department, gas control, SCADA development team, and instrumentation technicians. Responsible for engineering, planning, organizing and implementing field SCADA instrumentation and telemetry for select/limited scope installations, and assists in the field commissioning of new and/or improved pipeline controls with cross department team members.

Day to Day:

  • Leads engineering design, writing, testing and commissioning of RTU and PLC control systems programming software and firmware, including integration of RTU and PLC systems with upstream HMI drivers and systems.
  • Assists in the development of engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of company SCADA systems used for the monitoring and control of gas control operations.
  • Participates in engineering design, testing and commissioning of field instrumentation and pipeline control systems.
  • Performs engineering tasks using established procedures, including but not limited to, field transducer and equipment selection, schematic design, system layout, cost estimation, permitting and system documentation.
  • Participates in telemetry and SCADA project planning, scheduling and budgeting based upon project commissioning and start-up schedules.
  • Contributes to the accuracy and reliability of instrumentation, SCADA, pipeline control and safety of systems.

What to bring your first day:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university, with specialty in Telemetry Control Systems and PLC/RTU programming, or related field. FE or PE certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in similar position required for Level 2. Additional years of experience for Level 3.
  • Current programming proficiency in Rockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix platforms required, FactoryTalk, and PlantPAx experience preferred.
  • Current experience integrating in Rockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix platforms with non-Rockwell HMI systems (GE-iFIX) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, P&ID prints, blue prints and control systems loop diagrams.
  • Must have working knowledge of a wide variety of transducers and equipment related to control and instrumentation.

Operations Lead is a safety critical role. Key deliverables for this position are to ensure QHSE and Production targets are achieved on a rigorous basis. Organization

  • The job holder is reporting to Plant Manager for his function and administration.
  • Shift supervisor, control room operators, Lab technician and field operators are reporting to the job holder.
  • The job holder has no direct communication role with Clients unless approved by the line manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that Operations team is competent to understand and rigorously implement the Operating Procedures and designed set points (operating envelopes).
  • Ensure that QHSE regulations are followed and applied for all Field Operations activities.

Implements the change management process, by initiating, assessing, and endorsing all changes to respective facilities.

  • Fully understand the safety critical elements (SCE), and ensure they are operated and available as per design specifications.
  • Capable to assess and maintain production capacity and forecasts achievable production outputs.
  • Fully Understand the contractual requirements, production targets and safely achieve them.
  • Ensure that updated technical documentaation is available to support Field Operations.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for field operations team/workers.
  • Set up the regular daily, weekly, monthly reports are generated on time and submitted.
  • Ensure that all the submitted recommendations by the Laboratory, Maintenance and other departments are followed up and being highlighted accordingly.
  • Ensure that there is a continuous and adequate interaction with the clients and customers regarding start-ups, shut-downs and special conditions that might affect the plant performance and product specifications from the operation staff.

  • Able to understand the inherent priority of matters and timely escalate them to Plant Manager for a solution.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Review, assess, and prioritize facilities maintenance works for shutdowns and actively prepared related permits, isolations, and timely release of equipment to maintenance.
  • To monitor and control at all times production volume supplies, conditions and specifications within the contractual and designated agreements.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of Field Operations Team.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Continuously monitor, assess, review, and set competency development plans for his team.
  • Be aware of the responsibility of Operations lead duties during emergencies as per Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations activities on a daily basis.
  • Understand the warehouse operational and transaction setups (Requisition generation, material withdrawal requests, lubricant and chemical ordering philosophy, etc.)
  • Actively work with other disciplines to maintain asset integrity and process safety of the facility.

  • Assists Plant Manager and Perform regular audits on all QHSE standards and procedures (LOTO, PTW, TBT, JHA, MOC, ERP) are implemented in the field Operation team and documented correctly in the control room.

  • Set up the Field Logistic Key Performance Indicators and maintain daily, weekly, monthly and annually checks and ensure that those are followed up by the department staff.

Key requirements of the Job

  • Technical Or Engineering degree in Chemical, Petroleum or equivalent.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in oil and gas industry.
  • 3 years experience of Field Operations in sour and acid gas condensate processing facility in a supervisory position.
  • Have proven skills for working in teams, collaboration, and achieving excellence.
  • Experienced in Team management, and conflict resolution.
  • Good troubleshooting skills, problem solver and information analyzer.
  • Advanced knowledge of English both written and spoken.

·Advises, reviews and signs off on projects and contractor developed documentation:

  • Heat and material balances
  • Process Flow Diagrams
  • Piping and Instrument Drawings
  • Plot Plans
  • Equipment data sheets
  • Vendor drawings
  • Vendor shop inspections
  • 3 D model
  • Start-up / operating manuals
·Advises on the development and execution plans of the common standards and process for the process engineering as provided by the engineering services group in E&C.
·Directs the efforts of the assigned process engineers
  • Assigns areas of responsibility to process engineers assigned to the project and reviews process groups work product

·Participate in HAZOP and HAZID reviews
·Coordinates with other discipline leads
·Supervises assigned employees
·Keeps management informed with respect to the progression of the projects
·Develops and/or reviews all process modifications made on the project
·Require competence in the use of process simulation software in order to model process situations as requested to support management decisions
·Participate in the development, reviews and bidding of technical contracts for the projects
·Leads teams and provides mentoring of junior engineers at the company

Experience / Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 x years experience within the energy / oil & gas industry
  • Minimum of 5 x years experience on LNG Projects / Design
  • Familiarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs).
  • Excellent communication skills due to extensive EPC and vendor interface
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in referencing, researching, reporting, tracking and monitoring of activities and documents
  • Ability to work independently and function with limited supervision
  • Proficient in the use of HYSYS, Excel, and Word
  • Working knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII, API RP 520 and 521

Engineering Manager

Our client, an emerging Operator within the Oil & Gas Industry, has a requirement for an experienced Engineering Manager with a focus on Downstream / LNG Projects.
The role will be initially based in Houston, TX however require frequent visits to Project Sites both domestically and internationally.

Job Overview

This role will be an integral part of the Snr Leadership Team and will be at the forefront of the development and execution of a Major Petro-Chemical facility.
The Engineering Manager is accountable for the management, review and approval of the final technical design and other documents provided by Contractors and will assist in administering and monitoring the FEED and/or EPC contractor during the detailed engineering and procurement phases, providing technical support to engineering and managing engineering support during construction, commissioning and start up.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Works with Project Manager and E&C Engineering services team on all engineering related aspects to ensure on time and cost-effective project execution
  • Ensures quality of engineering and design services and deliverables of both direct and subcontracted work complying with contract and government requirements and support the overall project schedule
  • Manages the administration of engineering including interfaces with document control, review and approval matrices, document numbering, conformance to comments and all other administrative functions of managing the engineering effort.
  • Provides leadership in review and approval of project issues such as design assumptions, heat & material balance, equipment and material selection, operation & maintenance and compliance with design standards and environmental regulations
  • Attends and participates in all project key meetings organized by Project Manager and Engineering Services. Conduct technical coordination meetings with relevant parties.
  • Reviews drawings, schedules, specifications, and permits to ensure compliance with project requirements. Make proper decision for FEED and/or EPC Contractor not to stop and/or hold the project construction activities.
  • Works collaboratively with the Process Engineering Manager, the Senior Project Manager and ther members of project leadership to ensure timely deliverables and proper and efficient interface management between the three functions of Projects, Process and Engineering.
  • Works with the E&C Construction Manager to review engineering plans for plant constructability, operability and maintainability

Experience / Education

  • Recognized Engineering qualification (Degree preferred), with extensive project development skills
  • Minimum of 15 x years experience within the energy / oil & gas industry
  • Minimum of 7 x years within a Snr / Leadership role on a Major Project
  • Minimum of 3 x years experience on LNG Projects / Design
  • Strong knowledge of LNG liquefaction design and operation.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance and control practices.
  • Strong knowledge in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies in oil & gas field.
