This decline has meant recruitment businesses have needed to diversify to survive this decline in vacancies. Petroplan continues to operate an office in Aberdeen. The traditional vacancies serviced by Petroplan such as offshore drilling and operations have diminished in number. However, the need for talent has started to show some signs of recovery. The activity of mergers and acquisitions in the territory has also revealed opportunities for professionals.

Petroplan is also a member of Decom NorthSea, an association for organisations that are allied to the North Sea decommissioning sector.  Many decommissioning projects are still to receive funding, however, the beginning has started with the Brent Delta Topside towed to Teeside for dismantling.

This is a great opportunity for the North Sea oil and gas community to hone these transferable skills for global export as the need for decommissioning spreads over the coming decades.
