Rotating Equipment Supervisor

Petroplan is seeking an experienced Rotating Equipment Supervisor for our client, a major petrochemical operator based in the Geismar, LA area. Candidates with at least 10 years in a maintenance supervisory role will be strongly considered.
Job Overview
The rotating equipment supervisor will lead mechanical maintenance resources to cost-effectively maintain the rotating equipment used to operate a petrochemical production facility. Personnel safety, environmental protection, and the reliable operations of the plant to achieve production targets will be among the Rotating Equipment Supervisor's key responsibilities.
Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the budget and the execution schedule of the rotating equipment team.
  • Effectively manage capital projects work that is assigned to the maintenance department
  • Ensures all work is completed safely and cost effectively to achieve the required quality and schedule
  • Manages the day to day work within the plant area
  • Implements the maintenance program within the plant area
  • Manages unplanned breakdowns ensuring appropriate planning and controls are incorporated into each event
  • Supervises shutdown and turnaround work within the plant area
  • Manages rotating equipment maintenance contracts and contractor relationships
  • Manages the facilities associated with the rotating equipment group
  • Responds to operations priorities to minimize production loss
  • Ensures that all maintenance work is integrated into the operations department requirements
  • Ensures there is effective integration with the other supervisors and other groups of the maintenance department
  • In conjunction with the reliability and lead maintenance engineers, develops and optimizes the maintenance program to meet plant availability requirements
  • Manages the assigned budget ensuring appropriate financial controls
  • Ensures that technical skills within the area are at a level consistent with top performance in the petrochemical industry
  • Ensures that all plant maintenance is implemented in accordance with standards and best practices and are in compliance with all relevant US legislation
  • Ensures that all Plant Changes are implemented in accordance with the applicable management of change procedures
  • Review engineering design packages to ensure all maintenance requirements are met
  • Identifies continuous improvement opportunities to drive down the unit cost of maintenance and/or minimize overall risk of harm to people, harm to the environment or loss prevention and communicates these to the responsible person.


Experience/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline preferred, OR, equivalent related work experience/combined education.
  • Millwright Trade Certification
  • 10 years experience working in a Maintenance Supervisory role, preferably within a Manufacturing environment
  • Experienced in managing projects
  • Experience with predictive and preventative maintenance programs
  • Experience with reliability techniques and analysis
  • Experience with development and implementation of strategy
  • Experience with root cause analysis
  • Experience with ISO 9000

Rotating Equipment Engineer - Reliability

Petroplan is seeking an experienced Rotating Equipment Engineer - Reliability for our client, a major petrochemical operator based in the Geismar, LA area. Candidates with experience working in the petrochemical industry with large rotating equipment are preferred.
Job Overview
The Rotating Equipment Engineer - Reliability will be responsible for providing rotating equipment reliability strategies and systems and engineering advice to allow the maintenance department to cost effectively achieve plant availability and reliability requirements. The Rotating Equipment Engineer - Reliability will also be responsible for the compliance with all relevant and statutory legislation, and will be required to meet the requirements of all internal standards and procedures.
Responsibilities

  • Works under general direction from the reliability supervisor and is responsible for performing detailed reliability studies and detailed calculations of component/system reliability
  • Originates and develops analysis methods for determining reliability of components, equipment, and processes
  • Maintains lifecycle evaluations of mechanical equipment in order to proactively determine, in a timely fashion, opportunities for dealing with equipment obsolescence
  • Acquires data and analyzes the data. Prepares diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations and reports for defining reliability problems and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Conducts an analysis of reliability problems and investigates to determine the reliability required for the particular situation considering the cost limitations for equipment
  • Determines the cost advantages of alternatives for developing action plans to comply with internal/external customer demands for reliability processes/equipment to avoid failures
  • Considers impact of costs on recommended action plans for avoiding/correcting problems during the design phase or remedial action for correcting reliability problems on installed equipment
  • Design, review and modify the preventative maintenance program focused on rotating equipment
  • Facilitates investigation to determine root cause of failure for all serious, major and potentially major reliability incidents
  • Develops and maintains equipment repair, inspection, construction and selection standards


Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, mechanical engineering preferred; or other relevant engineering discipline
  • 10 years' experience in the petrochemical or related industry preferred.
  • 10 years' experience with large rotating equipment (>25,000 Kw) preferred.
  • 5 years maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience with reliability techniques and analysis
  • Experience with predictive and preventative maintenance programs
  • Experience with root cause analysis
  • Experience in condition based monitoring, Bentley Nevada (or similar), vibration analysis and lubrication analysis

Electric / Mechanical Geopilot Tech II

Currently recruiting on behalf of a fantastic Oil Field service company in need of several Electrical / Mechanical Geopilot Tech II. This position is contract and will be located out of the Broussard, LA office.
Responsibilities:

  • Performs maintenance on down-hole electronics and other equipment used in the application for down-hole tools
  • Follow HSE guidelines
  • Ensures all Repair and Maintenance is performed in accordance
  • Locate, read and understand tool drawings from PSL specific Tool Manual
  • Maintains surface computer and sensor systems
  • Calibrates necessary down-hole sensors 10%. Repairs Electrical connectors


Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree
  • 6-12 months prior experience as Downhole Mechanic Tech I or equivalent tool technician training
  • Basic computer and math skills
  • Ability to locate, read and understand tool drawings

Responsibilities:

  • Performs maintenance on down-hole tools, surface equipment and other equipment within the down-hole tools
  • Assemble and disassemble tools
  • Read and understand tool drawings


Requirements:

  • 0-2 years experience
  • Valid drivers license
  • Previous experience operating down-hole equipment is a plus
  • Ability to operate Heavy equipment is a plus
