Bright Minds are fuelling the future of the Energy Sector

In 2018, we are already seeing predictions for the year ahead. The sector has started more positively with the focus much more on a margin than an expansion mindset. OPEC with their contribution to over 30 million barrels of world supply are managing production more tightly, the US continues to show growth in energy exports from crude oil and liquid nitrogen gas (LNG) and refined products while controlling costs. Europe too is showing a better than expected price per barrel. Brent Oil prices are showing recovery. A new era of energy talent requirements are growing across many disciplines.

There is much doubt though that the oil sector in particular will return to the prices of early 2014. For professionals in the sector this is a double-edged issue. Organizations are focused less on expansion and more on maintaining efficient operations to manage costs and using data to predict resource planning. This means however that there is likely to be much more stability and clarity in terms of recruitment plans in the industry.

Many experienced sector workers are retiring and at the same time a digital transformation has begun. The energy sector needs bright minds more than ever to replace the experienced talent leaving and add new skillsets into the workforce to achieve profitable, efficient and safe operations.

Operating models for the oil and gas fields of the future and alternative energy sources are conceived. Companies are piloting and taking part in proof of concept initiatives to embed this new way of sustain-ably harvesting the energy our planet needs.

If you haven’t already considered the career opportunities in the energy sector or have had doubts about your future path – now is the time to explore what’s on offer.

Where are Oil, Gas and Energy careers going?

Petroplan’s recruitment team is adapting to the changing needs of the energy sectors in which we help candidates find employers who match their aspirations and make best use of their knowledge and expertise.
