About the Role

Seeking an Operations Technician or Instrument Technician on a permanent basis who can join the existing 2-man team in a contracting capacity. Reporting to the site manager who works as your cross shift, the role holder will oversee all major operations of the facility and be responsible for the plant's efficient operation, including responding o out of hours call outs whilst on shift. This role is based on a 7 day on/off shift pattern. After an initial progressive training program, the role holder will mainly be running the site alone.

  • The key features of this position include:
  • Monitoring, maintenance and operational up-keep of the facility
  • Completion of daily reports, site walk-rounds.
  • Preparing equipment for maintenance, including isolating, de-pressuring, purging and blinding.
  • Substation high voltage switching (after training), isolating and grounding consistent with all applicable isolation practices and complying with high voltage devices.
  • Trouble shooting logic and control system deficiencies.
  • Orientate, monitor, and general supervision for contractor personnel.
  • Assist in revising procedures when necessary.
  • Accounts receivable coding and tracking.
  • Safety reporting and documentation.

 

About the Qualifications

This person must have prior experience working as a plant operator/technician and have the following qualifications/experiences:

  • Must reside within 60 minutes call-out radii of the plant (Fernie to Pincher Creek inclusive)
  • Must already hold at least a 4th Class Power Engineering certificate
  • Experience in working as an Instrument technician or Red Seal Electrical Journeyman would be an asset.
  • A working knowledge or in-depth experience in calibrating sensors, trouble shooting systems and reading technical drawings and literature would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in operating a power generation facility or back-up generators would be an asset. Experience with boilers and furnaces is not required.
  • A working knowledge of PLC and ladder logic would be an asset.
  • Existing First Aid and H2S Alive Certificates would be a benefit.

 

Job Type: Day shift (8hrs for 7 days, with 4hrs handover to cross-shift) with payment for responding to call-outs.

Operator Assistant

Assists in rigging up and down of any service line equipment. Assists in assembly and preparation of equipment for installation and service. Assists in the running of a job and in the clean up, repair, and preparation for the next job. Promotes and takes an active part in the Quality Improvement Process. Ensures compliance with HSE regulations and guidelines. Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Works under direct supervision with no experience required. This is the entry level position into the service operator job family.

On an offshore rig, under supervision of the Mudlogging Engineer, the Sample Cather gathers, assembles, and assures timely delivery of sets of cuttings samples as per customer requirements. Moderate physical activity is required to collect and process samples. Samples must be washed, dried, stored in prescribed containers and properly labelled. Candidates must be Newfoundland residents and have all training required for travel offshore as per CAPP requirements (refer below) The following valid safety courses are required before onboarding the sample catchers: CAPP Medical CAPP Respirator Fit test BST(or BST-R)/HUEBA Flight Suit fitting H2S WHMIS Must be supplied with all PPE: Coveralls - orange colour Hard hat - orange colour Safety boots (higher than ankle) Safety glasses Impact gloves The work is also not going to be steady since the drilling activity will be up and down, there may be some breaks of a few weeks up to a couple months in the drilling activity where we would not be using the sample catchers, but we would like to have the same people at our disposal/on call when the drilling stats up again. we only pay for the sample catchers for days on the rig.

Medgate System Testing Analyst

Our client is currently seeking a Medgate System Testing Analyst for a 4 month contract role in Calgary, AB.


This position provides support to each H&W program - Integrated Disability Management, Alcohol & Drug, and Site Services to assist in the development and enhancement of the Medgate User Acceptance Test Scripts, execution of Medgate User Acceptance Testing for break/fixes, patches and scheduled service packs for 2017. In addition this position will be required to revise and update test scripts where Medgate configuration is required. This role will also facilitate the move to testing execution within the HPQC system, rather than via spreadsheets.


This position will also be required to develop new end user training workbooks for some H&W programs and revise existing end-user training workbooks to ensure they are current and aligned to updated business processes and the upgraded Medgate GX2 platform and configurations.


This position will work closely with Subject Matter Experts in each of the H&W programs to understand the business processes behind the system to be able to develop and update test scripts and end user workbooks.


This position will work closely with the Medgate Super User network to progress development and stabilization of the new Medgate sustainment model.


EDUCATION

  • Business Degree or Information Technology Degree is preferred


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in Medgate is required
  • System Testing (e.g. User Acceptance Testing) experience is required
  • Test script development experience is an asset
  • HPQC (or other testing system) experience is an asset
  • Microsoft excel and word proficiency

I am currently recruiting for a client who is specialized in Drill Bit technology located here in Houston, TX. This is a contract role, roughly lasting 5-6 months, with potential to go on longer. They are ideally looking for a Drafting Engineer with a drafting background in Drill Bit Technology and has experience with PTC Creo design software.


The project will entail as followed: They have a legacy system and are wanting to move it over to Creo 2.0. The candidates will need to be comfortable migrating all drawing from their legacy system: GMS to Creo 2.0

  • Needs to be comfortable migrating, forging, and consolidating drawings from 3 7/8 to 34 inches
  • Not a complete start from scratch. They have a team in place who has Creo 2.0 experience so they will have a team that can help, but this consultant must be able to hit the ground running.
  • Knowledge of Creo 2.0 Surfaces
  • Must be knowledgeable design head of the drill bit (that's the most complicated)
  • Other duties as directed.

  • Directing, planning, and supervising the application of the HSE programs based upon guidelines and requirements specific to the facility.


Requirements:

  • A minimum qualification of a Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience with employment periods working for an operator within compliance, permitting and HSE with an emphasis on onshore US projects.
  • Ability to effectively delegate and motivate while leading in a strong team environment.
  • Strong knowledge in engineering standards, materials, and company processes
